Denon DN-V755 Network Audio/Video Player Internal 40GB HDD Features
Denon DN-V755 Network Audio/Video Player Internal 40GB HDD Overviews The Denon Professional DN-V755 Network Audio Visual Player is honest-to-goodness bona-fide revolutionary. Older systems required specialized software for configuration and control. That meant all your media had to be in the right place at the right time, in the right format, and your staff programmer had to be there with it every time you wanted to update your message. If any of those elements were out of place-thanks, and we'll try again on Monday. With the DN-V755, connect it to a LAN and you're off to the races. There's no software to install or schedule the DN-755 and it can be accessed with any web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. When you connect, it behaves like a website, and adding media is as easy as dragging-and-dropping. Think about that-you can control your message from anywhere in the world. |

Bringing quality and elegance to even the most space-constrained rooms, the D-M51DVS provides stereo bookshelf speakers, a 100-watt subwoofer, and 35 watts per channel audio power using the supplied speakers. The innovative 2.1-channel system processes Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround sound and generates 5.1 sound from any stereo source using Dolby Pro Logic II. The D-M51DVS also incorporates Dolby Laboratories' Virtual Speaker surround-sound technology for enveloping sound from stereo sources. With its integrated DVD/receiver unit, this tiny, highly refined system conveys surprisingly realistic 5.1-channel surround sound from just 2 speakers. (It also offers preamplifier outputs for center and left/right surround channels for conversion to a true 5.1 system.) The D-M51DVS is perfect for small home theaters, for offices, apartments, dorm rooms, or any spot in which you desire quality, multichannel entertainment. The system plays DVD-Video, MP3 CD, WMA CD, JPEG image CD, and Kodak Picture CD, giving you the best of your digital media wherever you set it up. Compatible with direct-view TVs but perhaps asking outright to be connected to a silver, flat-panel LCD or plasma set, the D-M51DVS's DVD/receiver unit features a metallic silver chassis with an aluminum faceplate, and the satellite speakers are housed in real aluminum with wood-finish end caps and light-gray grille cloths. The subwoofer is finished in wood. The single-chassis DVD player/receiver features an FM/AM tuner with 40 station presets (and auto tuning) as well as progressive-scan DVD video outputs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Dolby Virtual Speaker technology provides an alternative to multi-speaker systems, digitally processing stereo and multichannel sound to yield what Dolby feels is the most accurate and natural virtual surround listening system ever. Using a proprietary process, it delivers a realistic 5.1-channel surround sound experience using just 2 stereo speakers. In addition to Dolby Virtual Speaker, the D-M51DVS features Dolby Headphone signal processing, which delivers natural-sounding surround through any set of connected headphones (none supplied). It's ideal for late-night movie viewing, video game playing, or private listening to audio- or video-based entertainment. The D-M51DVS provides a host of additional performance and convenience features, such as a clock with sleep and event timers and bass/treble tone controls. Key to the D-M51DVS's outstanding sound and picture quality are its high-resolution video digital-to-analog converters and digital video processing and its use of the same Analog Devices Hammerhead SHARC 32-bit DSP audio processors used in Denon's AVR-2803 and AVR-3803 audio/video receivers. LF Direct circuitry provides faithful playback of deep bass sound. With LF Direct, low-frequency signals bypass the subwoofer's crossover and level-control circuits, avoiding phase distortion and signal degradation. The result: you hear pure, deep bass that's utterly faithful to the source. The supplied 2-way bookshelf speakers each feature dual 2-inch mid-bass drivers and a .75-inch dome tweeter for rich, dynamic sound with detailed midrange and extended, open-sounding high frequencies. MDF (medium-density fiberboard) above and below the central aluminum enclosure forms a novel hybrid construction of metal and wood that produces great sound with natural acoustic characteristics not possible using aluminum alone. Related Products Customer Review 1 : Pyle PLTTB3U BELT DRIVE - NOT DIRECT DRIVE - sharpie - I just received this turntable as an early Christmas present. Thank goodness my wife decided to give it to me early, that way all the headaches could be cleared so that it could actually be enjoyed for Christmas. First, this is NOT A DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE. It is belt driven. FALSE ADVERTISING! I was surprised to see a direct drive turntable at such a low price. Well, I have yet to see a direct drive at such a price! I am not a DJ nor a full-on audiophile. I can tell what does and doesn't sound good, and vinyl remains the best way to enjoy recorded music. I have little turntable experience. Were it not for the internet and some quick learning on my part, I wouldn't be listening to Queen's "Night at the Opera" while writing this. First, the manual is a joke. Four pages are dedicated to the device itself, the remaining 13 describe the included software used to digitize the vinyl. Out of the box it didn't work. Then I noticed the dangling belt. The manual does not describe how to install the belt (why would it..this is supposed to be direct drive, right??). To get the belt on, one has to remove the platter. How? Internet query 1. What is the belt path? Web query 2. (None of the helpful answers on the web were about THIS turntable though). Next, balance the tone arm and set the anti-skate, web queries 3 and 4. A key piece of information not provided nor discoverable is how much weight the needle requires. OK. Ready. Lay down the album, hit start, stylus down, and poor Freddy sounds like a chipmunk. Web query 5. Here is where this turntable performs better than most, especially at this price. It has a sliding pitch control (which means speed control) and the side of the platter has a pattern of white boxes spaced such that when illuminated with the strobe light the optical illusion of steady boxes indicates proper speed. This is pretty cool, but not really as I had to figure all of this out myself. Oddly, the product description says the light is optional, but there it was. Now Freddy sounds perfect. So, if nearly all the above weren't true, this would easily get 4 or more stars. This is a turntable featuring tone arm adjustment, anti-skate, speed control with strobe, anti-slip mat, dust cover, pre-amp adjust, usb, all for under 0. The sound quality is above average, and would certainly be prime with a stylus upgrade. BUT, it is not a direct drive (an inexcusable misdirection), and requires substantial user wherewithal to get working properly. I've tried calling the company, but they are closed Friday-Sunday. I'll update this review once I get some feedback from them. We were also considering a Pioneer at a slightly higher price. Not sure if I choose properly. |

The AVR-1709 features a powerful seven channel amplifier section that can be easily configured for a 7.1 channel surround sound loudspeaker system, or to drive a 5.1 channel surround sound system in the main room, while at the same time able to drive a pair of stereo speakers in another room. As well, the AVR-1709 features on-board video up-conversion, along with three HD component video inputs for additional video signal handling flexibility. For optimum surround sound quality, the Audyssey MultEQ in-room acoustic measurement and optimization system measures the loudspeaker’s overall response (at up to six different measurement points) and tailors the audio signal for the smoothest, most natural-sounding tonal balance throughout the listening space. And, the AVR-1709 is one of the first to offer Audyssey’s Dynamic Volume leveling system, which eliminates jarring volume jumps between TV shows and commercials, as well as Audyssey Dynamic EQ to ensure rich bass and smooth tonal balance, even at low volume levels. Customer Review Best Customer Review : The receiver does everything I wanted it to do. I like how it upconverts to component via the red/white/yellow rca's. I have many things hooked up to it and this is a great feature for me. I have HD cable/xbox 360/wii hooked up to the components and I have my Macbook/ipod/and video camera hooked up to the rca's. All of these go into the receiver and 1 component cable out to my Plasma. All works seemlessly! The price was great! Shipping on time as well. Customer Review 1 : POS - F. Lentine - I purchased the AVR-1709 in January of 2009. Got it, set it up, very happy with it for about 4 weeks. One night while watching tv, there's a deafening sound that actually blows the cover off 3 of my wall speakers. The receiver stops making sound the next day. I drive it 30 miles to a service center, wait 3 weeks, drive back to get it and find out that the HDMI board went out. I used it for about 3 more months and occasionally, you could hear a speaker "pop" a little. After a couple of weeks of this my wife and I went out one night and left my in-laws watching our kids. They're watching TV at around 10pm when BOOM! Speaker covers blow off, 4 little kids awake screaming, my inlaws calling us and 911 together, total mayhem. I return it again, am without it (as well as TV, video games, movies, etc. because it's remotely installed) for another month and finally get it back and they tell me not to plug the cable box HDMI into the unit, but to use the components. Ok... Four months go by, and kaboom, again, then it stops making sound at all. I called Denon and asked them about cross-shipping a replacement and their only answer was to take it to the repair facility. Now I've had it a year and been without it almost a quarter of the time, so I decided to call Amazon and see what their advice was. As usual, the whole exchange took about two minutes, they issued me an RMA (1 year later, I might add) and I'm off to buy a Yamaha! Never, ever, buy anything that might break, fail, or come damaged from anyone but Amazon. Customer Review 2 : Returned - A. Mead - CA USA We ordered this receiver and installed it with our existing surround sound system, replacing a Yamaha receiver that had died. Within 4 days, the receiver simply turned off. The next morning we were able to turn it on again but it only stayed on for about 5 minutes before it shut down again. It sounded fine while it worked but we packed it up and shipped it back. We are going to try something else. |

The remote controller that comes with the UD-M30 can also be used to operate the basic functions of these optional units. The D-M30 system is supplied with a pair of Mission MS-50 loudspeakers. Customer Review Best Customer Review : I was choosing between Panasonic, JBL and Sony bookshelf units, each of which sounded good, and was doing a "pro and con" discussion with myself regarding those units when I heard another customer testing the Denon DM30S at the end of the aisle... It caught my attention because of its extremely clear, crisp well balanced sound from the excellent Mission speakers. I had never heard much about Denon, and it was about 50 bucks more than the units I was considering, but the sound was so much better that I could no longer consider the other units. I did some web research and found it to be a very well thought of unit, so plunked down the money and took it home. Unpacking it, I found an excellent instruction manual, and with the champagne colored chassis and natural wood colored speakers, I find it very attractive. The overall "look and feel" is high quality with excellent construction in both the receiver and the speakers. While it will not blast the walls out of a large room, it retains its clarity up to rock concert sound levels in a 15 x 15 office, frequent testing of which might be a problem with coworkers :) The only thing I would suggest to Denon is that they send someone to Remote Control Design school. The remote is an attractive, finely crafted unit, but the controls are not particularly intuitive, and it does not have a mute button... Not that this was a deal breaker, just an annoyance. (I later purchased a Denon A/V receiver and its remote's design is equally befuddling). |

Like many people, I have a pretty large collection of DVDs and an HDTV. I also don't want to pay a lot of money for Blu-Ray movies. The nice thing about this player is that it upscales DVDs to 1080i, so the picture is better than out of a standard DVD player hooked up via component video cables -- you have to use the DVI output to upscale the video, though! Tons of setup options, good sound, good video, no problems. Customer Review 2 : Great until 6months after i bought it. - Joseph W. Henderson - Lexington, KY United States Features are EXCELLENT!.. However customer service DOES NOT EXIST!!.. The display went out on my 6 months after i bought.. sent it off to denon.. Took 6 months to get it back.. Customer Review Best Customer Review : Initially, I went through the struggle of choosing separates (pre-amplifier and amplifiers) versus a receiver (where the pre-amp and amplifier functionality is built-in to one unit). I liked the flexibility of having separate components in case I decide to make changes in the future, but simply did not have the space in my audio area to accommodate multiple pieces, hence my choice to look at receivers. There were many receivers to choose from and I found the Denon to be at my sweet spot for value, function, performance, aesthetics and simplicity. This beast of a receiver is one step below Denon's flagship AVR-5308ci. The AVR-4810ci delivers 9 amazingly clean channels of amplification without breaking a sweat. The GUI-driven menu takes a little getting used to, but after 4 or 5 uses, the menu becomes second nature. There's a plethora of inputs and outputs, and the capability to handle 3 subwoofers coupled with 9 channels for front, front height and/or width, surround, surround back and center channels allows for enormous flexibility with room for future expansion. There are 6 HDMI inputs (with one in the front panel behind the flip down door). Built-in WiFi allows for integration of other networkable sources in your home with no mess or fuss. Having Napster and Rhapsody online access built-in is extremely convenient and very easy to use. Satellite radio (XM and Sirius) can be handled by this beauty as can HD radio. With the USB input, you can playback photos or audio. Freely assignable amplifiers allows for bi-amping, bi-wiring and multiple zones (up to 4) throughout your home. This receiver can even control your iPod on-screen via the USB digital direct connection. The initial setup process is quick and simple, thanks the Audyssey MultEQ XT Room Equalizer that allows the receiver to setup all of your speakers' time and frequency response, for up to eight positions which is very handy if you have more than one person frequenting your listening area. The Advanced AL24 Processing Multi Channel features improved dynamics, so my sources sound phenomenal. The 1080p HDMI output via Anchor Bay's advanced VRS processing (using the ABT-2010 chip) and excellent scaling capability makes all of your sources look simply superb! Even your analog sources can be unconverted and scaled to 1080p!! As usual, Denon's Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit (D.D.S.C-HD) provides for amazing sonic detail and extended range, with Burr-Brown 24-bit/192-kHz digital-to-audio converters for all channels, rather than just the front two. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders ensure amazing reproduction of your favorite Blu-Ray discs. As a bonus, you get dual HDMI outputs if you want to output to other rooms or to handle situations where you might have both a video projector and an HDTV flat panel in your theater. The "ci" designation means that the receiver supports custom integration features if you choose to do some advanced setup or are having the receiver professionally installed/integrated into your home. If there's one thing about this unit that I didn't like, it's the EL remote. I found the remote a bit clumsy to use and don't really use it much for controlling the receiver once initial settings are accomplished (as I use my Harmony universal remote instead). I also think the User Manual could use some tweaking to make the instruction flows easier to understand. I heartily recommend this receiver and have not regretted my purchase for even a second! Good luck with your choices and no matter what, ENJOY! |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : I have had this receiver for a month now and I'm extremely happy with the sound quality, which is the #1 reason for choosing a receiver. It also has every feature I needed and supports all the latest sound formats. I'm very happy with the upconversion video quality. Note that this receiver can take an analog SD or HD signal and convert it to digital HDMI output, so you only need one connection between your receiver and your TV. Many other receivers do not perform this conversion and you need multiple connections between your receiver and TV. Many people have complained about the manual and complicated setup. In my opinion, the manual is actually very good. The setup is obviously designed by engineers and not a human factors person. I would certainly not expect my parents to be able to set this up, but if you have decent technical knowledge, then you won't have any problems. I did need to consult the manual to understand some parts of the setup, but like I said, the manual was accurate and fine for someone of reasonable technical knowledge. If you want to see for yourself, just download the manual from Denon's web site before you buy it. The receiver does allow you to rename the inputs, but the way you assign the inputs to quick select is very strange indeed. Instead of labeling each input as HDMI 1 - 4, Component 1-2, etc., they label each input with a name such as DVR, DVD, etc. And some labels overlap between the type of input. For example, DVD is an HDMI input and a component input. If you have both DVD inputs in use at the same time, then it will not work by default. You have to go into the setup and assign the component DVD or HDMI DVD another default label, such as DVR. Then you can use both inputs. You can also rename DVR to a custom label, such as XBox or PS3, for example. It would be much more straightforward, if they just has HDMI 1-4, Component 1-2, etc., and then you could label each input with a custom label. Then you could also assign quick select 1 to be HDMI 1, for example. In any case, this part of the setup is complicated, but once it is set up, you don't have to mess with it, so it's worth the hassle if you can figure it out. You can also hide inputs you don't use. Once it is set up, you can press Source Select on the remote and see a list of inputs (with custom labels), and just choose the input you like. So when you see the select list, you will see PS3, Wii, Xbox, Tivo, Apple TV, etc., based on the custom labels you entered. This is nice and the way it should be. My only other complaint about the receiver is that the setup and selection screens are text based and look like they are from the 80s. It would be nice to have HD menus with nice graphics and fonts. However, you don't spend much time in the menus once the system is set up, so I can overlook this. Overall, the receiver is awesome. I would definitely buy it again. I wish they would address my complaints, and I'm sure they will eventually in new models, but like I said, my complaints mostly affect the usability of the setup, and once that is done, you can just enjoy the awesome sound! Customer Review 1 : Not hard to set up at all - Van L. Adams - Athens, OH First I want to say that this is the best reciever I have ever owned. The sound quality is fantastic, and I'm even running it through some fairly cheap yamaha speakers (plan on upgrading speakers soon). My family members have all been impressed by the sound. I can hear sounds in movies and songs that I didn't hear before with my old reciever. But you've probably heard all of this in other reviews. Second and more importantly I wanted to comment on how easy it is to setup. Someone previously wrote a review commenting on how complicated it is to use, and how he owns thousands of dollars of Mac equipment, and blah, blah. I do not understand this at all. I have a samsung LED LCD tv, a samsung blu-ray player, a samsung cable box, a Wii, and I was able to hook them all up and get them all to work with little to no problems at all. I thought the interface was fairly simple and easy to use. The manual is not nearly as difficult to read and understand as other people have said. And the Audessey software runs you through the setup of the speakers step by step. I even got the anynet feature to work on my TV, so when I use my TV remote to adjust the sound it adjusts the sound of the reciever and shows you the sound level on the TV for the reciever, and when you turn the TV off it turns the reciever off. The only gripe I have is with the HD decoding: with some blu-ray player models (including my blu-ray player) you have to have the blu-ray player do the HD sound decoding and not the reciever. This is a known issue with this reciever and some blu-ray players. The denon people on the denon forums say that it sounds the same regardless of which device does the decoding, and that the only thing you are missing by having the blu-ray player do the decoding is the blue light come on on the reciever. But I still think I would rather have the reciever do the decoding. Anyways, that is my 2 cents on this excellent reciever. And as a side note, if you are having trouble using this reciever, just google batpig, and use his guide. Customer Review 2 : Mostly wonderful to own and operate - Adam Collins - Bellevue, WA As with the other Denon components I've owned, the AVR-1910 is well buit, cool running, sonically excellent, and (mostly) wonderful to own. First, the three niggling bits: 1) Denon needs to stop putting meaningless ("SAT", "DVD", "DVR", etc.) labels on inputs, 2) the on-screen configuration interface seems dated, especially for a digital receiver and 3) the remote control interface is finicky: press the buttons too rapidly and the poor receiver is likely to be confused. I gripe about the input labeling because it just makes things more confusing when you're wiring up your receiver. You can rename all of the inputs through the on-screen interface anyway, so why not just give the inputs a number or letter? Let me explain the remote thing, also, and describe why it can be frustrating. The remote interface has a repeater function, much like a computer keyboard: hold a key down for more than half a second and the key starts rapidly repeating itself until you let up on it. Well, the AVR-1910 has that too and it is gets in the way more often than it helps. It's frustrating with the on-screen interface and annoying with the volume control (3 slow taps means +/- 1.5 db, while 3 quick taps could mean anything from +/- 1.5 db to +/- 6.0 db). You'll get used to all of that though, which is why I gave the AVR-1910 a 5 star rating and recommend it as a home theater receiver. The big points for me were the 4 HDMI inputs, generous power output, wonderful video scaling, and the reliability that Denon is known for. I had no idea that the quick select function would be so nice, so that was a major bonus. Basically, you get all of the settings (input options, output options, and volume) the way you want them and hold one of the three "quick select" buttons down. From then on, pressing that quick select button on the receiver (or remote) will recall all of those settings. Even better, the receiver lets you name each of the three quick selects. Despite a few interface issues, this receiver is satisfying and I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a mid-range 7.1 A/V receiver. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : I was looking to purchase a system that had at least 3 HDMI inputs and I found this DENON and it had all the qualities in a system that I was looking for nice look and all the inputs I wanted set up was a breeze because of the HDMI inputs because no messy wires to hide afterwards it came with a mic that detected the noise to determine where the speakers were at and how far away they were and stuff like that i was impressed. Then came the only downside I hooked up my Mitsubishi 60in dlp and my Xbox360 and turned it on to enjoy the sound of my lovely system and thats when I found out that it doesnt support sound through the HDMI which is what I was really buying the system for so now I had to go out and buy a coax cable for the sound so I have all my HDMI wires going through my TV and out to my system so i brought this and dont have any HDMI Cables plug into it at all so I was highly upset but when I finally got it hooked up right and turned it on and heard the sound from the Bass and the surround sound speakers I was ok still a little mad also the remote was a little hard to work out but I kept playing with it and now I have all my radion stations preset and I can preset all my EQ chanells also so the systems is really good except for the sound not being able to go through the HDMI cables now i have to return all the cables to Target today hopefully they take them back because I opened the boxes LOL i rate this system at 4.5 stars if you buy it you will be impressed at the acoustic sound it delivers Customer Review 2 : Good System - Ignacious - I purchased this at Sears for around 0. It is a good system and has just the amount of hookups I need. The only downside was the manual was not clear on how to setup the components hooked into it. After a while of messing with he settings I got my PS3 and cable box hooked up and working great. It sounds good and am happy with the purchase. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : The Onkyo TX-607 is an awesome receiver. This receiver replaced my JVC receiver which was approximately 15 years old. The instructions were easy to follow and the calibration of the speakers was interesting to say the least. Once I hooked my speakers up to this baby and heard the sound quality I could not believe I was using the same speakers! WOW! The sound blew me away! I was so enthralled by the sound quality that I spent several hours sampling DVDs from my collection to hear all of the different sounds that I had missed using my old receiver. Also, If you turn the volume down, you don't lose sound quality from the surround speakers (great feature!). The receiver has too many features to mention. The receiver does run hot, but as long as you ventilate the system it should be fine. Probably best to place in an open cabinet or an open shelf type system (DO NOT PLACE IN AN ENCLOSED CABINET). Occassionally, I will hear a very short gap during television broadcasts and during playback of programs recorded on my Directv DVR. I don't know if its due to my setup or the receiver. I will try to give an update once I find out what's causing that problem. Hey, no receiver is perfect. You will find issues with receivers costing twice as much as this one, but I challenge you to find one with better sound quality and more features at this price range. Customer Review 2 : great for the money - G. slaymaker - it is a rare instance when buying something that you get more than you expect. This is one great buy for the money, It has improved my sound. I had a 6 year old Pioneer Elite and this is much cleaner than it. The the remote and controls are fairly easy to understand. I love the sound set up system. It is truly worth the money. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : After spending weeks of researching A/V receivers, I chose the AVR-590 to replace my old, non-HDMI Sony receiver. I had a 5.1 setup and didn't need anything fancy, but I didn't want something mediocre either. On paper, this model had all the features I needed (HDMI switching and automatic speaker setup) for a very reasonable price. This is my first Denon receiver, and I have been using for over a month. Setup - I consider myself technically inclined, so when I read the manual for the first time, it wasn't too complicated. However it's layout is not very intuitive, so I can see where people who are technically challenged may have issues with the Denon manual. I went to the BatPig Web site to download instructions, just in case I had a brain fart reading the manual...I found that both the BatPig instructions and the Denon manual complimented each other well, so setup ended up being pretty easy. You have the option of setting up the receiver with the speakers either manually or automatically. Being naturally lazy, I opted for automatic (Audyssey) setup using the included microphone. When doing automatic setup, be sure to use the on-screen menu and definitely test all 6 sound locations to get an accurate audio "sweet spot". Sound - Wow. This is where going through the setup pays off. Whether you're watching something with Dolby Digital/DTS encoding or just listening to music, the sound is very full and crisp. You have several sound field settings to chose from, as well as manual volume adjustment to suit your listening tastes. I use HDMI for the HD and Blu-Ray sources and Digital Optical for DVD sources. Although the speaker system I have in place is modest, it handles all audio sources beautifully. Listening to music or sounds from TV/movies is an absolute treat to the ears with this receiver. Video - Excellent. With the AVR-590, I used its HDMI out for video from DirecTV and Blu-Ray sources. I hooked up Component video for my DVD changer, because it is a pre-HDMI device. The receiver uses the most current HDMI standard (1.3a), and picture on my 120Hz LCD from both outputs is vivid and sharp, with no ghost images or signal loss at all. Watching from any video source is pure (pardon the pun) eye-candy. Performance - Excellent. One evening, I did my best couch potato imitation and watched a bit of DirecTV HD & a couple of Blu-Ray movies for nearly 8 hours straight. Afterward, I checked the receiver to see if it was getting hot, and surprisingly there was hardly any heat coming from it. Dynamic EQ seems to work, as I have not noticed any of those annoying commercials that scare the bejeezus out of me when watching TV programming. I definitely feel like I'm in a theater when watching anything on this system. Overall - Excellent. Even with decent speakers and a good LCD, plugging in a new receiver really makes a difference...I now find myself losing track of time while listening to vibrant sound and watching brilliant video! If you have under 0 to spend on a quality 5.1 receiver, this is it. Don't mind what others have said about setup issues, because it really isn't that difficult to set up. For the features that it offers at its price range and the performance you get in return, I do feel you get the best "bang for your buck". Customer Review 1 : Denon AVR590 - Vernon H. Grant - Hooked up easily, excellent sound from 5 speakers + 1 sub woofer. I had no idea of the complexity of formats there are for surround sound systems, and bought a book (Practical Home Theater), to explain much of what I was supposed to know already. Book very helpful. Audessy EQ very easy to set up and balanced the speakers better than I could have. The effect this receiver has on blu ray movies is amazing--adds as much realism as blu ray did to plain DVDs. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : Since I'm brand new to the A/V world, I did a lot of researching before making my decision on which receiver to buy. I worked hard to figure out all the lingo and I checked out just about every option available below 0, including those with built-in DVD players, etc. I read every review I could find ([...] is great for this), posted questions on the AVS forums, etc. I'm very thorough when I'm spending a lot of money like this. I didn't need a 7.1 system so I focused on 5.1 systems. Even though I'm only using a 2.0 setup right now (front left and right speakers only), I want to be able to add the other speakers and a sub in the future. So my review is only on my 2.0 setup. I can't provide any feedback on a full 5.1 surround setup. One of the things I was looking for was upconverting (the ability to plug all of my components (HDMI, component cable, and composite) into the receiver and run 1 HDMI cable out to the TV for the video and speaker wires out to the speakers for audio). You can use the HDMI for audio too if you want to use your TV speakers, but if you're buying a good receiver, it just makes sense to buy some decent speakers to take advantage of it. Upconverting was essential for me since I'm mounting the TV on the wall about 15' away from the receiver and didn't want to buy lots of long cables for each type of input and then have to run them behind the wall. I was also looking for a receiver with lots of inputs to handle all of my components (HD DVR, Wii, DVD player, video baby monitor) and still have room to add more pieces in the future. I'm happy to report that I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The receiver does a good job of upconverting the analog video inputs and they all look pretty nice on my 46" LCD. The video from HDMI inputs looks amazing. For audio, I'm using Focal XL speakers and they sound great! They provide lots of bass and dialogue is nice and clear. I haven't run the Audyssey program yet because the TV isn't on the wall yet but it sounds great even without having run it. I will provide an update once I get everything in it's final place. I just wanted to get my initial review posted since there aren't many on Amazon yet and I wanted to let everyone know that this is an excellent choice. The only drawback I can think of is that the manual isn't super helpful. You can find lots of help online, especially at batpig.com. Don't worry, it is a legit site. You can google it if you'd like. It is an excellent information resource for Denon receivers. Customer Review 1 : Couldn't be happier! - Jarrett - Western, NY I picked this unit up from a local shop who highly reccomended this receiver and started my research. It does everything I want, switch HDMI, video, pass through video, and produces great surround sound! My budget would be considered low to audio/video freaks, but I believe this receiver is the best bang for the buck! Currently I have: HD settop cable box, Blu Ray, Wii, and the boy's Click Start running through it. I love the HDMI switching for the simple fact that it allows me to run 1 HDMI from the receiver to the TV! Thanks Amazon for having a review section which aided me in my research to purchase! Customer Review 2 : Excellent product and service. - Schmidt - Great product, and I saved about 0.00 vs purchasing it locally. Buying electronics locally is a joke. It is extremely easy to hook-up. The auto calibration feature on most Denon receivers is a must. |
