Ethernet connectivity opens up your AV system to host of exciting capabilities like audio and jpeg photo streaming and Internet radio. Customer Review Best Customer Review : Initially, I went through the struggle of choosing separates (pre-amplifier and amplifiers) versus a receiver (where the pre-amp and amplifier functionality is built-in to one unit). I liked the flexibility of having separate components in case I decide to make changes in the future, but simply did not have the space in my audio area to accommodate multiple pieces, hence my choice to look at receivers. There were many receivers to choose from and I found the Denon to be at my sweet spot for value, function, performance, aesthetics and simplicity. This beast of a receiver is one step below Denon's flagship AVR-5308ci. The AVR-4810ci delivers 9 amazingly clean channels of amplification without breaking a sweat. The GUI-driven menu takes a little getting used to, but after 4 or 5 uses, the menu becomes second nature. There's a plethora of inputs and outputs, and the capability to handle 3 subwoofers coupled with 9 channels for front, front height and/or width, surround, surround back and center channels allows for enormous flexibility with room for future expansion. There are 6 HDMI inputs (with one in the front panel behind the flip down door). Built-in WiFi allows for integration of other networkable sources in your home with no mess or fuss. Having Napster and Rhapsody online access built-in is extremely convenient and very easy to use. Satellite radio (XM and Sirius) can be handled by this beauty as can HD radio. With the USB input, you can playback photos or audio. Freely assignable amplifiers allows for bi-amping, bi-wiring and multiple zones (up to 4) throughout your home. This receiver can even control your iPod on-screen via the USB digital direct connection. The initial setup process is quick and simple, thanks the Audyssey MultEQ XT Room Equalizer that allows the receiver to setup all of your speakers' time and frequency response, for up to eight positions which is very handy if you have more than one person frequenting your listening area. The Advanced AL24 Processing Multi Channel features improved dynamics, so my sources sound phenomenal. The 1080p HDMI output via Anchor Bay's advanced VRS processing (using the ABT-2010 chip) and excellent scaling capability makes all of your sources look simply superb! Even your analog sources can be unconverted and scaled to 1080p!! As usual, Denon's Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit (D.D.S.C-HD) provides for amazing sonic detail and extended range, with Burr-Brown 24-bit/192-kHz digital-to-audio converters for all channels, rather than just the front two. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders ensure amazing reproduction of your favorite Blu-Ray discs. As a bonus, you get dual HDMI outputs if you want to output to other rooms or to handle situations where you might have both a video projector and an HDTV flat panel in your theater. The "ci" designation means that the receiver supports custom integration features if you choose to do some advanced setup or are having the receiver professionally installed/integrated into your home. If there's one thing about this unit that I didn't like, it's the EL remote. I found the remote a bit clumsy to use and don't really use it much for controlling the receiver once initial settings are accomplished (as I use my Harmony universal remote instead). I also think the User Manual could use some tweaking to make the instruction flows easier to understand. I heartily recommend this receiver and have not regretted my purchase for even a second! Good luck with your choices and no matter what, ENJOY! |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : After spending weeks of researching A/V receivers, I chose the AVR-590 to replace my old, non-HDMI Sony receiver. I had a 5.1 setup and didn't need anything fancy, but I didn't want something mediocre either. On paper, this model had all the features I needed (HDMI switching and automatic speaker setup) for a very reasonable price. This is my first Denon receiver, and I have been using for over a month. Setup - I consider myself technically inclined, so when I read the manual for the first time, it wasn't too complicated. However it's layout is not very intuitive, so I can see where people who are technically challenged may have issues with the Denon manual. I went to the BatPig Web site to download instructions, just in case I had a brain fart reading the manual...I found that both the BatPig instructions and the Denon manual complimented each other well, so setup ended up being pretty easy. You have the option of setting up the receiver with the speakers either manually or automatically. Being naturally lazy, I opted for automatic (Audyssey) setup using the included microphone. When doing automatic setup, be sure to use the on-screen menu and definitely test all 6 sound locations to get an accurate audio "sweet spot". Sound - Wow. This is where going through the setup pays off. Whether you're watching something with Dolby Digital/DTS encoding or just listening to music, the sound is very full and crisp. You have several sound field settings to chose from, as well as manual volume adjustment to suit your listening tastes. I use HDMI for the HD and Blu-Ray sources and Digital Optical for DVD sources. Although the speaker system I have in place is modest, it handles all audio sources beautifully. Listening to music or sounds from TV/movies is an absolute treat to the ears with this receiver. Video - Excellent. With the AVR-590, I used its HDMI out for video from DirecTV and Blu-Ray sources. I hooked up Component video for my DVD changer, because it is a pre-HDMI device. The receiver uses the most current HDMI standard (1.3a), and picture on my 120Hz LCD from both outputs is vivid and sharp, with no ghost images or signal loss at all. Watching from any video source is pure (pardon the pun) eye-candy. Performance - Excellent. One evening, I did my best couch potato imitation and watched a bit of DirecTV HD & a couple of Blu-Ray movies for nearly 8 hours straight. Afterward, I checked the receiver to see if it was getting hot, and surprisingly there was hardly any heat coming from it. Dynamic EQ seems to work, as I have not noticed any of those annoying commercials that scare the bejeezus out of me when watching TV programming. I definitely feel like I'm in a theater when watching anything on this system. Overall - Excellent. Even with decent speakers and a good LCD, plugging in a new receiver really makes a difference...I now find myself losing track of time while listening to vibrant sound and watching brilliant video! If you have under 0 to spend on a quality 5.1 receiver, this is it. Don't mind what others have said about setup issues, because it really isn't that difficult to set up. For the features that it offers at its price range and the performance you get in return, I do feel you get the best "bang for your buck". Customer Review 1 : Denon AVR590 - Vernon H. Grant - Hooked up easily, excellent sound from 5 speakers + 1 sub woofer. I had no idea of the complexity of formats there are for surround sound systems, and bought a book (Practical Home Theater), to explain much of what I was supposed to know already. Book very helpful. Audessy EQ very easy to set up and balanced the speakers better than I could have. The effect this receiver has on blu ray movies is amazing--adds as much realism as blu ray did to plain DVDs. |

DENON AVR4806 7.1 Channel A/V Surround Receiver Features
DENON AVR4806 7.1 Channel A/V Surround Receiver Overviews DENON has become a world leader in the manufacture of high quality audio and audio/video equipment and software products for the entertainment and information industries. Its professional-use and consumer-use equipment and software products are recognized internationally for their originality and standards of quality, durability and innovation. DENON is recognized internationally as Japan's leading manufacturer of high-quality audio and audio-visual products, and is the only company in the industry involved in the development and production of both hardware and software. Customer Review Best Customer Review : I started out looking at 0 A/V receivers, and gradually worked my way up to the Denon AVR-4806. Sometimes I think I must have been crazy, but more often I glad I bought this unit. What do you get for 3 grand? Needless to say, you get great sound, but you get a lot more. It is THX Ultra2 certified and will handle up to 10 speakers. So no longer do you have to live with a mere 2 channels of surround sound. It actually gives meaning to the word surround. It comes with a microphone (on a 20' cord) used to set the system up you plug it in and place the mike in various listening positions, and it determines all the distances and sound levels for each speaker automatically. Very cool! It has 3 HDMI inputs, so you can plug in your DVD player, Tivo Series 3, and Playstation 3 using HDMI and output them all via HDMI to your TV. In the present technology world this is the best way to connect things digitally. If your equipment doesn't have HDMI outputs, it will also accept component, analog and optical output and upconvert them flawlessly. The manual is about 150 pages, and not terribly easy to understand. When I bought it, it was offered by Crutchfield, and from Etronics (for several hundred dollars less). I paid the premium that Crutchfield charged, and I'm glad I did. With all the possible settings and confusion, I've already taken advantage of their lifetime tech support to get things working. The AVR-4806 is now discontinued, and is replaced by the AVR-4806CI. I understand the CI stands for `custom installation'. What the exact differences between the two are, I don't know, but for the additional ,000, I doubt they're worth it. If you want an audiophile quality receiver that is able to upscale all your inputs to 1080p, and can afford the relatively steep price tag (although half the price of the next level up), you won't be disappointed in this unit. Although no longer listed on Amazon as a vendor, Crutchfield still has a few left for ,999 (the AVR-4806CI is ,999 from them). Update 01/10/2007 - I must apologize for this review. After trying to hook up a 1080p device I learned that this unit does NOT switch 1080p. In fact that is the main difference between the AVR-4806 and the AVR-4806CI. The unit is now at Denon being upgraded to a CI. The AVR-4806 is discontinued, but still available from a few vendors (no longer at Crutchfield). I would not recommend buying from somewhere that doesn't offer robust tech support as it is a very complex piece of electronics. Again, my apologies to anyone who may have been mislead by my erroneous information. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : Background - I previously had a simple 5.1 system-in-a-box setup. It was not horribly impressive and with limited features. I also had a Harmon/Karden receiver (very old) for music. Ownership duration at time of review: ~2 weeks Experience level: I consider myself pro-enthusiast -- I control church sound (16ch band), musical background (so I know what to listen for), Electrical experience in almost all categories, rarely need to touch the manual. I bought the DHT-590BA after doing a lot of research for the price range (At the time I purchased it was on Amazon Prime). I compared the specs against other systems that had many more inputs or many more 'features' (I.E. Ipod/DVD combo/etc.) but found this does exactly what I need and wanted. I was just about to get FIOS from Verizon and wanted a system that didn't put it to shame. Only reason I didn't upgrade earlier was that I couldn't find a system that was in the price range and with the correct features I required. Since this is a A/V receiver I wanted to use it as my primary switch instead of the TV. The bonus of having an upconvert to HDMI allowed me to have only one cable running to the TV. With that said the components I have connected are a PS3, Fios HD set-top, a secondary DVR and a mp3 player. All (except mp3 player) are now running via HDMI so I reduced the mass tangle of wires :) The switching capability is fantastic, there are 3 programmable buttons on the front to select the "scene", for instance 1->TV, 2->PS3, 3->Radio. The programming saves seems to save all aspects of the setup, basically the sound level and any other settings are saved. The speakers that come with this system match very well. After letting the receiver do the auto-setup, with provided setup mic, the sound is well balanced with no delay or echos. The room used is a 15x19 size room. The calibration is dead accurate, when competed it gives a summary of the calculations (distance measurement) which is spot on down to the inch. The provided sub is just right but can bring out unwanted effects. This design with the cone facing downward doesn't work well on carpet -- I used a plywood board under it so the tone isn't muffled or selective like a bandpass box. If placed badly in a room this will give a very loud and uneven sound. I'm sure the calibration would have fixed it but I found a good location before that happened. The satellite speakers are more of book-shelf type, they are heavy and larger than you expect! The 3" mid-tone cone has much to do with that size/weight but the compromise of this is great sound. I had some issues with the middle speaker since it was bigger than expected so location was more complicated. Pros: The best feature about this receiver is that it as up-converting to HDMI. This is a great bonus for standard def or typical Ypbr connections (3-plug video). Scene programming AWESOME sound - well balanced after calibration. Can get loud and yet remain in an even tone with minimal distortion. Auto EQ/volume - Main reason for those loud TV shows. It will attempt to keep the volume the same (compression) if a loud show comes on or if you don't particularly like explosions after cranking the volume to hear what people are saying in a movie. Keeps its cool (literally) -- After hours being on it is very cold. Switch ability - toggle between inputs easily though one device. Calibration - works very well to balance the sound. Very easy setup - especially with HDMI, I think it took me an hour or two for setup (that includes taking down the older system and wires) Long enough wires for rear speakers. Cons: (small) Bigger than expected speakers Volume is a bit tricky. It has a predictive volume changer (goes faster the more you press the volume button). Massive/heavy box (83lbs) -- be warned for those with a small car and not a lot of strength Not for those 'state of the art' setups -- then again you'll probably be looking at the 4-digit range. Supplied remote is a joke for controlling all components -- keep it only for the receiver. Some what on the large side for the receiver -- could be smaller Must (but understandable) go though setup procedure to get auto eq/volume working No THX (but DTS works just as well) Would I recommend this? For anyone who doesn't have good speakers and wants to consolidate the mess of wires YES! Have I recommended this - Already did :) In summary this works very well for me. The quality and controls are almost perfect (minus volume control). I think that it is well priced and well designed. I feel it works very well and complements Fios and Blue-Ray movies. Tips: *If you see those "1000W" systems be warned, that statement is not well founded -- it's like saying a car can go from 0-30 in .5 seconds but has trouble hitting 70. If you read carefully that '1000W' is for a specific tone range which is generally a high pitch. Basically a real 300W system can put that to shame. *Think about what you currently have and what will be removed by getting this system. Are you going to use all HDMI (if so how many and compare that to the # of HDMI inputs). Are you using a mix of HDMI/component - Make sure the system can up-convert for you. Are you wanting new speakers (if no match the speakers to the receiver -- bigger = more of a receiver). Customer Review 1 : Excelent - Real Home Theaters - Tennessee If you find this review, pat yourself on the back, because for this price, there is no better on the market. (right now) This package can be beaten, but you have to triple the price. I have used many htib packages before. This one surpasses all of them. pros: Sound quality: The speakers are enough to fill a 225 sq/ft space with above normal volume, and top to bottom freq. response to make all but audio files happy. HDMI conversion-You can use any analog input (composite, or s-vid) and it will upconvert it to HDMI. Rename inputs, set delays, audyssey, and multiple inputs. You can use this system with a projector and have a realhometheaters. Cons: For the price there are none, but an activity based remote would be useful. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : I originally was going to buy a different Denon system but decided on this one with the Boston Acoustics speakers. It arrived on schedule and took me a couple days to read through the manual (just do it) and play with the various settings before the setup was close to what I wanted. A few minor tweeks after that and this thing rocks. I watched the Super Bowl in HiDef surround and was glad I didn't spend the money for the tickets. It was like being there. When you hear people behind you yelling "Defense" or cheering as Eli threw the winning touchdown pass, it makes watching the game more fun. There are enough settings on the tuner to satisfy anyone. Whether it's watching a DVD, listening to the stero or playing XBox, this system can make the experience more fun. Well worth the money. Read the manual. The set up is not for the faint of heart. I'd recommend this to anyone. Customer Review 1 : Not a good choice - lmcoutside - usa Returned the unit. Receiver was non-functioning. The speakers, however were exceptional (when using our old receiver). Unfortunately, the instructions for setup were a disaster as well. Anytime you are faced with buttons on both sides of the remote, you know you are in for disaster. Denon has a solid reputation, but they lost it with this version. Never again. Customer Review 2 : Great Sound - Leigh A. Sullivan - Fairfax, VA Hi, we bought this surround sound system after shopping around for a few days. It has 2 HDMI inputs, but the sound is not received through these so you'll need separate digital sound cables. After getting it setup, took about 4 hours. The sound is amazing! The surround is fabulous and the whole thing just creates a great theater experience. I had never setup up a receiver and speakers before so probably took me a bit longer than an experienced person. I would skip on the additional purchase of the D-dock. I could get the remote working for the Ipod, but no on screen display of the menus. I have a support email into Denon for this so it might get resolved. It looks great all black and the speakers are reasonably small. Highly recommend |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : Well... This is my second review of the product... now that I have been using it more I would have to agree that it's a pain in the neck to configure other than HDMI interface devices. I have tried to add component stuff and S-video... and I am having a hard time doing it... Some of the controls have un-intuitive functions... The quality of the sounds and functions is really good but what an awful setup... ************ I'm writing this to help you make a decision. I know it's a nightmare to try and find the best bang for the bucks, but why not search for the best receiver for you. What I liked: Robust body and great looks. Good HDMI switching. 3 HDMI inputs. 2 optical 2 coaxial 1 optical output !!! I like to be able to send to a digital recorder. Has a small learning curve. I had no trouble setting it up. I spent 3 days wiring the speakers before so when I got it I hooked it up and configured it in about 3 hours. Audyssey Mic included... great for adapting the sound to your room acoustics. What can be improved: Remote layout... but I see everyone buys a Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote. 185dlls ! Distance between the speaker plugs, you can't really use twin banana connectors. The graphic interface has slow response and its just text. but it gets the job done. The popular Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black) went over 400 dlls when I was looking for a receiver so I didn't go for it. I think Denon is a better brand, maybe a little more expensive but has more quality. I got some speakers to go with it Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Entertainment System (Set of Six, Black) Bottom line: Sounds great, good set of inputs, not so good graphic interface, solid look and overall feel. Customer Review 1 : Wunderbar! - KeyJey - Northwestern Ohio This was the brains of a wonderful sound system my husband put together for our HD TV. Really marvelous sound. Customer Review 2 : Tough to set up easy to love. - M. Rojas - SAn Diego No beating around the bush. This is a tough system to customize. But once you have it figured out you can output anything through this receiver. I use it in conjunction with a Harmony all in one remote. I am very happy with this product. |

Denon AVR-589 375-Watt 5.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver Features
Denon AVR-589 375-Watt 5.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver Overviews Denon¿s AVR-589 surround sound receiver features the latest high definition video connectivity, including dual HDMI v1.3a inputs and an HDMI output that provides up to 1080p resolution pass-through. The AVR-589 features a precision 32-bit floating point DSP processor for optimum surround sound fidelity, a technology normally only found on much more expensive components. Each of the five equal power amplifier channels features 75 Watts of output, able to drive the widest variety of home theater speaker systems. The AVR-589 also features Audyssey MultEQ in-room multi-point analysis that measures the in-room response at up to six different listening positions, and then fine-tunes the response for the smoothest, most natural-sounding tonal balance. The AVR-589 is among the first to include Audyssey¿s remarkable new Dynamic Volume processing, which eliminates jarring volume shifts between TV shows and commercials, as well as Audyssey Dynamic EQ to ensure rich bass and smooth tonal balance, even at low volume levels. Customer Review Best Customer Review : Bought this at your local Big Box recently that is going out of business (CC). Works very well. Setup is a breeze. Although the manual and all reviews tell you that HDMI does not do audio, it does. However, you cannot hear the audio through the Denon unless you use another connection (RCA analog or SPDIF digital). The Denon will pass-through any audio being output by your device via HDMI, but it cannot output it to your speakers. I'm running HDMI and SPDIF Coax out of the Cable Box and I can hear the sound through the TV (connected to Denon by HDMI only) as well as through the Denon. If I unplug the SPDIF, I can only hear through the TV. The same is true for my DVD player - HDMI and SDPIF Coax out to the Denon. Denon works if Coax is connected, TV works either way. This is useful as now I can listen to the TV without turning up the volume on the Denon - useful in the AM and late nite when I'm being quiet for the wife! BTW, I had the "Direct" option turned ON. As far as Audiophile audio quality, I'm not so sure. It would be nice to have the Burr Brown DACs of the "better" models, but since I'm using this mostly for TV/DVD/iPod, I can't complain. It sounds great with the TV and DVDs but I have yet to really sit down and blast it out with CDs or FLACs via my Squeezebox... Maybe this weekend... That being said, this is a 5 for 5 product. Props to Denon for doing us right once again! Customer Review 2 : Works fine. - Amy Sponseller - Holland, Ohio USA The Denon AVR-589 even though it was a scratch and dent, I can't see any scratches or marks on the unit. You have to run audio through a separate set of cables and not through the HDMI, but it seems to work fine. Audyssey balances out the 5.1 speakers. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : First off, I don't have this specific Denon but a similar Denon model. I also purchased one for my daughter. I noted the first reviewer of this particular product was extremely pleased with it in his application of 7.1 sound in his home theater system. Yes, they are great for that, and I'm not surprised he is pleased. Unfortunately, such a review doesn't properly describe the features/functions of this product series. I had to find out for myself. 7.1 sound is not "native mode" for any material, DVD or TV broadcasting, you are likely to receive. It's an algorithm that successfully attempts to improve on 5.1 programming (which is the de facto standard). In the same manner, a 5.1 system can also attempt to improve programming that is actually native mode stereo, or at least to convert it to "surround sound," even though it is produced in two-channel stereo mode. The Denon products allow the user to run in 5.1 true reproduction, 5.1 interpolated (stereo converted into "surround sound"), 7.1 interpolated (5.1 converted into 7 channel) and/or true stereo mode. The reason that may be important is that most of us have a lot of stereo CDs, recorded before multi channel sound became so commonly available. Those don't faithfully reproduce into 5.1 sound (you may personally think 5.1 improves on stereo imput). The advantage is that this product series (with a proper speaker configuration) can perform well with discrete multi channel sound or 2 channel stereo programming. It therefore has the flexibility to accurately reproduce your program material whatever its actual audio recording mode is. I'm not personally aware of many other products that are made for this purpose, at least at this price point. Customer Review 1 : Denon AVR-989 - East Wood - Excellent receiver with all the functions that you need for 5.1 or 7.1 system. Only problem is that the remote and the manual is very confusing and poorly documented. I get around this by buying Harmony One universal remote. This is my second Denon (my previous one was avr-888) and I have been happy with the quality of the sound and the video. Customer Review 2 : Excellent Receiver for the Money! - Ootyguy - I was always looking at the Denon 3808ci receiver but jumped on this when Amazon lowered its price. A big fan of things made in Japan for their excellent craftsmanship, Denon was on the top of my list since it was from Japan. The receiver is very well made with excellent set of features. Paired with Polk RTI-8 speakers for the front and still my old Bose cubes for the surrounds and back (which I plan on replacing soon) and a Polk powered 12 inch sub woofer PSW 505 to form my 7.1 system, it sounds just amazing especially with Blu-ray sources. I am yet to exploer may features especially the zone 2 feature. I will update this review when I do so. This replaces an old Sony 5.1 receiver and the difference is night and day and the heat generated is also lower compared to my Sony and I have heard several others say that it run much cooler when compared to an Onkyo. I am extremely pleased with this buy and would certainly recommend it. |

Denon AVR-2307CI - AV receiver - 7.1 channel Features
Denon AVR-2307CI - AV receiver - 7.1 channel Overviews The AVR-2307CI has been designed with technical improvements to bring it to CI status, making it the choice of installers for applications in the mid priced HD home theater environment. HDMI 1080p digital video circuits have been added to accommodate HD digital video sources such as cable and satellite set top boxes. Video up conversion to HDMI as also been added so that Composite, S-Video and Component sources can be sent out the same HDMI connection to the HD monitor for ease of use. Add to that auto calibration, 7 DSP surround modes, and a litany of adjustments, and you will find this receiver to deliver top performance in the current fast paced Hi Tech home theater world. Customer Review Best Customer Review : I feel I have gathered enough experience on the Denon AVR-2307CI in the past 5 weeks to be comfortable to share my opinions with others. Prior to purchasing the 2307CI I did my homework and found the two major complaints against the 2307CI are 1) the layout of the remote control, and 2) the receiver's on-screen menu is only visible in 480i mode. Neither deters me from making the purchase because 1) I use a JP1 compliant universal programmable remote control for my home theater to replace all the remote controls that came with each component; there is no way I will be able to live with the cluster of 6 remotes :) As for 2) I don't find myself venturing into the receiver's setup menu often once it's set up properly. On the rare occasion I need to do that after the initial setup, I can always switch to a component/device that's not connected such as phono; and the video output automatically switches to 480i. There are 9 inputs on the 2307CI so I don't foresee running out of unused inputs in the near future for my setup. Keep in mind this 480i restriction only applies to the 2307's own on-screen menu, other components' menu will show independent of the resolution. Video: Currently I have two DVD players, a DVR, a VCR, an external video processor, and a laser disc player connected to the 2307CI, and the 2307CI's HDMI output goes to the Toshiba 62" HDTV. They all work perfectly. The devices with analog component video outputs get converted to HDMI with zero problem. The quality of the converted video is the same as the cable analog channels. There is some video delay as mentioned by the other reviewer, but in my case it's only two seconds instead of minutes, more than acceptable to me. As a matter of fact, I chose Denon over comparable Onkyo A/V receivers for exactly this reason: more reliable HDMI implementations. Audio: As mentioned by many other reviewers, the sound quality is very good for home theater systems. Now don't try to compare the 2307CI to true audiophile components, that's just not fair. My mono-block amplifier for a single channel alone costs more than the 2307CI. But for watching movies and broadcast programs the 2307CI renders high quality sounds. Installation and User Manual: I found the installation to be relatively straight-forward. Yes, it would probably take more than a couple of hours to set it up, especially if you have more than a couple of components in your system. But the procedure is very straight-forward. Though I must admit this is not my first home theater system; to the uninitiated the installation may seem more complicated. Though I still don't quite understand the reason for the other reviewer having to connect the DVD recorder directly to the TV. I have only one HDMI cable going from the 2307CI to my HDTV; all the other components/devices are connected to/through the 2307 so the great mass of cables stay where they belong - behind the cabinet and invisible. It's obvious at least parts of the user manual were translated from Japanese and it's not the best translation possible. Yet I still find the user manual sufficiently informative. One must keep in mind that this is a sophisticated piece of equipment that performs multiple functions; it's very difficult to cover all possible scenarios without knowing exactly what other equipment and in what combination they are used with the 2307. Pros: In a nutshell, I find the 2307 an excellent A/V receiver in its price range. Cons: Installation could require some work if this is your first time setting up a home theater system. And the layout of the remote can use some improvement. Customer Review 1 : Great system, remote is a horror - J. Jensen - Boonton, NJ USA This system is an excellent system for the price. I have everything hooked into it. 42" plasma tv, souround sound speeker system, ps3, vcr/dvd player, directtv hd dvr, sirius unit, and even a turntable for records (remember them?). The only problem with this unit is the remote. You need to be a rocket scientist to understand it. To solve this problem get yourself a logitech universal remote. I have the harmony 880. Now everything works great. Customer Review 2 : Only last 10 hours and dead - Steve Wang - Canada I bought one in July, played about 4-5 movies, and it's DEAD, I opened the metal top enclosure as I wonder maybe the fuse was burned, well, I can't believe what I saw, the 2 AC input receptacle housing metal contacts were loosen from the PCBA, it seems to me a defect of "cold solder", the other AC bypass housing was came off the PCB as well, no wonder when I set it up, the AC outlet on the back has never been worked! Terrible quality assurance, this cold solder should never pass the "vibration test". |
